THE PRACTICE
A Vela Unvelum, aka AVU, is a Sydney-based architecture and interior design practice dedicated to creating spaces that are both meaningful and enduring. Our work is grounded in the belief that architecture should enrich the human experience - through thoughtful assemblage of space, tactile materiality, and a deep connection to place.
The name A Vela Unvelum means 'A Veil Unveiling', describing a process of uncovering the latent potential within a site and transforming it into meaningful architecture. Every project begins with a careful reading of place. Drawing on a site's natural character and context, we shape spaces that respond intuitively to light, scale and atmosphere. The result is architecture that feels sculptural yet grounded, refined and welcoming - where texture, proportion and detail come together to create immersive environments that stand the test of time.
At the heart of our practice is a commitment to our clients and the pursuit of design excellence. We believe that meaningful architecture emerges through a collaborative process, where the aspirations of our clients, the distinct qualities of the site, and our architectural sensibility converge. PRACTICE LEADERS
AVU is led by Ross Serrano and Cristina Lupica Serrano, whose combined experience brings together a distinctive design sensibility and technical insight.
Ross Serrano holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture from the University of New South Wales. As a registered architect and design practitioner in New South Wales, and with a Certificate IV in Building and Construction from the Housing Industry Association, Ross bridges the gap between design ambition and practical execution. His approach ensures every project is as buildable as it is bespoke.
Cristina Lupica Serrano graduated from Design Centre Enmore with an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design. With years of experience delivering interiors for boutique commercial fitouts and high-end residences across Sydney's most prestigious suburbs, Cristina's work is defined by its refined use of materiality, spatial harmony, and considered detail.
WHAT WE DO
AVU works across a range of building typologies, with a focus on high-end residential and boutique multi-residential architecture and interiors, alongside select commercial work. Our process is collaborative and clear, guiding each project from concept through to completion - integrating architecture, interiors, and landscape to deliver cohesive and context-driven outcomes.

concept design and masterplanning, interior design concept, schematic design, DA/CDC documentation, detailed design development, construction documentation, detailed interior design documentation, tender, CC documentation and construction phase services and administration.
