frankston TRAIN STATIOn
Kulin Country | Frankston VIC
A competition entry for a transit precinct in the coastal city of Frankston, VIC.
Train stations are iconic gateways into our cities and deserve to be celebrated. This proposal breathes life back into Frankston Station by relocating surface carparking underground to reclaim the ground plane as 'The Park Line' - a network of public reserves connecting commercial areas with nearby educational hubs. The building features dynamic 'Grand Arches' with a concertina roof system that opens and closes in response to weather and daily rhythms, while an integrated elevated public park and garden over the railway line provides a seamless link between Fletcher Road and Young Street.
